Welcome to the family library!

This is a spot to come and explore. We currently have 856 books and other media in the collection. It is our ongoing goal to increase, broaden, and enhance the collection of resources for our church family.

Mission

to share the resources and ideas and thereby engage the community of believers and empower the body of Christ to minister to others around them.

Library Goals

After losing much of our collection in the 2021 flood, we’re rebuilding our church family's library—literary, audio, and visual.

We aim to:

  • Celebrate Our Ministries: We'll spotlight different ministries on a rotating basis with curated books and materials that educate, encourage, and unify.

  • Promote Growth: A permanent reference section, expanded study aids, and a “Recommended Reading” shelf will support spiritual and personal development.

  • Serve the Whole Body: Beyond Bible study, we’ll offer practical resources for everyday life—self-help, how-tos, fiction, children’s books, entertainment, and hospitality materials like cookbooks and family guides.

  • Keep You in the Loop: New additions will be listed in the weekly Blast so you never miss out.

This library is for you—to grow individually, connect communally, and be inspired daily.

LIBRARY FAQs

Our dear old friend, Dewey decimal has made his mark in the library. The books and other media are in the process of being labeled on the spine with Dewey decimal numbers. The shelves are also in the process of being labeled with numbers and topics, so it should be relatively simple to browse.

....There is an app for that....

You can search the selections here. Additionally, Leslie Amend is always here to assist you in finding a specific thing.

I'm so glad you asked! There is currently one single CD seminar in the collection. However, look for more audio (and video/other) offerings in the future. It is the goal to include multiple types of media in the collections, from books on tap to music and DVDs to seminars and classes. This is a family library, full of family stuff. Let's face it - not everyone likes to read.

Do you see something that you want to borrow? Take it! Bring it back when you are through with it. This is an honor system. There is a clipboard (on the desk, far wall) that you can write on. This is a great way to communicate to others that you have it, so that they know who to ask to get it from when you are finished. This is a family library, and families share stuff.

There is no set time limit. Life happens, and we can't always finish a thing in two weeks. Still, remember that other people might also want to use it, so use your best judgement and be mindful of others.

Bring it back! There is a desk in the library (the back wall) that has a spot available for returns. You can just place it on the desk, and it will be taken care of. If you are brave enough to reshelve it, knock yourself out. Don't forget to mark it on the clipboard that you have returned it, so that others know it is available.

Items in the reference section are specifically for use at the church building. You may remove these items from the room, but please do not remove them from the building. These items have been set aside to be always available in the building. Perhaps they are a part of a collection, or they are expensive and hard to replace. It is requested that these items remain in the building and are returned to the library when you are finished with them, or at least finished for the moment. You know where to find it again.

Please do not study in the library. Occasionally there is sensitive business that takes place in the office, and so studying in the library could be compromising to that (If you inadvertently heard something private, the staff would have to kill you, and that really becomes problematic in a church). There is a lovely reading room that has been set-up down the hall, and it is much more comfortable anyway. Please respect the wishes of the staff and use the reading room.

There is always room for improvement! There is a suggestion box that you can put your request into. These will be regularly reviewed and prayed over. Perhaps it will be the newest addition for the next month!
